THIS AIN’T CALIFORNIA is a celebration of the lust for life, a contemporary documentary trip into the cranky world of “rollerboarding” in the German Democratic Republic. A coming-of-age tale of three teenagers and their passionate love for a sport on the crumbling tarmac of the streets in the GDR, which was considered very ill-fitting. The punk fairy tale of Nico, Dirk and Denis is a story of the subversive powers of fun in that part of Germany, which had lost touch with its citizens.
The film follows its three heroes from their childhood days in the seventies through their teenage rebellion in the eighties, ending in the late, last summer of their life in the GDR in 1989, when their lives changed forever.

Iggy D. and the Traitors
Iggy D. & the Traitors began as a solo project of Igor Diniz, a former member of the Brazilian rock’n'roll band called New Ones. After four years on tour as the drummer of New Ones, Diniz went from drums to guitar/vocals and the began writing his own songs and recording all the instruments by himself in his friends studios in the city of Londrina. What used to be a solo project became a band and now has Guilherme Dalvi and Rafa Vella on drums and bass. The songs are influenced by rock’n'roll and the punk scene of 1977, sounding like a mixture of Rolling Stones and the Ramones, The Jacobites and Sex Pistols, Dogs Damour and Small Faces, New York Dolls and The Stooges, Johnny Thunders and Hanoi Rocks, and Bo Diddley and Dead Boys. They’ve just released the music video “My Clothes On You”, and began touring Brazil.
A massive thanks and thumbs up to my buddies in Brazil that continue to rock like its 1977!
